To delve into crucial topics, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) spearheaded the Kawayan Students’ Festival with the second day opening on a series of talk shows centered on Video Editing, Financial Literacy, Climate Change, and Cyberbullying at the campus gymnasium, April 24.This deviation of standard fiesta festivities honed in the activities’ grounding theme of, “Supporting Sustainable Change (SSC): Igniting Creativity and Unity Through Transformative Festivities Leading to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, bringing attention to current interests and issues impacting the students of the campus.First to take the floor, Bryan Ali, Student Body Organization (SBO) adviser of the College of Computing Studies, Information and Communication Technology, discussed the intricacies of editing engaging videos with tips for both seasoned and beginning video editors. For students who are living independently, College of Business and Management Instructor Socrates De Guzman shortly followed after, engrossing them with saving tips and how to make informed decisions in spending their money in a lecture of financial literacy.Gelmarie Mangiguil, a College of Education instructor, urged students to take action in the combat against climate change. She highlighted the causes, emphasized the consequences it will bring, and recommended sustainable alternatives for a green livelihood.Lastly, School of Arts and Sciences faculty and Ordo Justinianist adviser Atty. Klayrol Galiza warned of the effects of cyberbullying that has become a major issue in the digital world and provided guidelines in avoiding and pacify online bullying. This would not have been the first talk show the SSC has initiated. Last March, with SAS SBO adviser sir Jayson Mark Colcol acting as the host, the talk show centered on women empowerment and included interviews from working students, single moms pursuing their education, the life of the school help, and the challenges that Executive Officer Dr. Precila Delima experienced in the workplace.KSF talk shows continue to be of service in promoting smart students in a smart city through intellectual discussions.
