On the third and last day of the Kawayan Students’ Festival (KSF) 2024, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) in collaboration with Isabela State University- Cauayan City Campus’ (ISU-CCC) Guidance and Counselling Office and Medical-Dental Clinic picked up the series of relevant discussions targeted at an early pregnancy prevention and anti-drug campaign at the campus gymnasium, April 25.Lt. Jeffrey Decelis, Assistant City Chief of Cauayan City Forensic Unit, directed the counsel on the anti-drug campaign, identifying the common drugs and warning them of the aftermath in participating and involving themselves in drug-use.Additionally, Mylene Dalare, Registered Nurse, discussed the significant threats to the health, education and overall well-being in early pregnancy. She advised the students against intercourse as students who are currently studying but also heeded them to take precautionary actions when engaging in the said activity.According to Rouchel Pareja, Population Program Officer 2, the City of Cauayan remains as the third with the most cases of Teenage Pregnancy in Region 2. Dalare also mentioned that most 14-year-old females are the youngest age recorded to get pregnant.Upholding awareness and education, these discussions highlighted the cause and consequences of turning to drug-use and early pregnancy, oftentimes leading to more inequality and poverty. The SSC through the KSF 2024 surged on with activities geared towards the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals in their objective to cultivate students involved with the community and in building harmony for Isabela State University as a leading university in the region.
