Student-leaders from various student organizations of Isabela State University-Cauayan City Campus (ISU-CCC) attended a gender awareness and development leadership training hosted by the Young Women Christian Association Founder’s Federation Philippines Inc. (YWCA FFPI) in partnership with the Supreme Student Council (SSC) at the Business Process Outsourcing Training and Simulation Center, June 29.
Exploring gender identity and mental health, Arianne Jill Bernardo, Immediate Past President of the Federation Youth Board, tackled the said seminar with the theme, “#EqualityinEmotions: Understanding Mental Health Across the Gender Spectrum.”
Aside from identifying gender spectrums and mental health, Bernardo instilled in the students activities they can undertake to spearhead mental health awareness and raise gender empowerment and inclusivity. This collaboration also brought forth the establishment of the ISU-CCC Chapter underneath the YWCA federation headed by President Jarina Sandhu and other female student-leaders of the campus’ council.
The members of the chapter are as follows:
- President: Jarina Sandhu
- Vice-president: Arabel Eliscopides
- Secretary: Candice Mae Uy
- Assistant Secretary: Joice Danao
- Treasurer: Leah Tomines
- Assistant Treasurer: Princes Cabalse
- Auditor: Louella Alauigan
- PRO: Army Ignacio, Aljean Busto
SSC adviser Dionico Gante stated that this new student federation will focus on women’s empowerment and build harmonious relationships not only with young women but also with all student-leaders and students at ISU, even outside the campus.
Enlightening the students with regard to the organization, Macrina Gutierrez, YWCA FFPI Federation Executive Officer, discussed its vision and mission, history, and programs. Gutierrez also explained how students are able to apply to become members of the said organization.
Additionally, Maria Eva Nacion, Assistant Corporate Secretary of YWCA FFPI, facilitated the workshop program planning, which honed in their planning skills as student leaders, and together with Bernardo, they guided the oath taking ceremony for the new members.
Daisy Palomares and Rachiel Neverio, Program Directors of YWCA FFPI, were also in attendance and moderated the event.
By partnering itself with YWCA, ISU-CCC shares its goal in setting an inclusive world with women leaders taking the front stage side by side with men and youth across the different sectors of society.
