From June 27 to June 29, 2024, the faculty of Isabela State University (ISU) Cauayan Campus attended a GAD seminar focusing on toxic positivity.

The seminar featured in-depth discussions on the detrimental effects of toxic positivity, a phenomenon where individuals feel pressured to maintain a positive outlook regardless of their circumstances. Ms. Faith R. De Jesus, RGC, the campus Guidance Counselor and event resource speaker, highlighted how this enforced optimism can suppress genuine emotions and invalidate personal experiences. Participants were encouraged to adopt a balanced approach to emotional health by recognizing and validating their own and others’ feelings.

The seminar included interactive sessions and workshops where attendees practiced mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and other coping mechanisms. These hands-on activities provided practical tools for managing stress in both personal and professional contexts.

The GAD seminar on Pressure and Stress Management, with a focus on Toxic Positivity, was hailed as a resounding success. The ISU Cauayan Campus faculty returned to their academic roles armed with valuable insights and strategies to foster more supportive and balanced environments.
