Two-Day Workshop on GAD Planning and Budgeting and Times Higher Education Impact Ranking Held in Aurora
Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, Aurora – From August 28 to 30, 2024, the Regional GAD Research and Learning Center headed by Dr. Jhamie Tetz Mateo spearheaded a significant two-day workshop focusing on GAD (Gender and Development) Planning and Budgeting and the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking at La Sunshine Resort and Hotel. The event saw the participation of attendees from ISU Cauayan Campus including Ms. Miguelyn Salcedo, Dr. Arnold Pascua, Dr. Lorelei Tabago, Dr. Freddie Cabrera, Dr. Aquim Verzon, Ms. Maricon Santos, and Mr. Christian Philip Fortuna. It was also attended by top university and campus official
The workshop featured insightful presentations from distinguished speakers. Ms. Ludivina Potot from the Department of Budget and Management-RO2 highlighted the importance of GAD Planning and Budgeting for state universities and colleges. She provided valuable tips on preparing the 2025 GAD budget for each campus, emphasizing the need for strategic planning and effective resource allocation. A presentation of the proposed 2025 GAD Budget, 2024 Midyear Accomplishment Report, Catch-up Plan, and Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework of each campus followed.
Another key speaker, Ms. Ana Marie Bahala from ISU Echague, presented the status of SDG 5 (Gender Equality) of ISU in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. She compared the data submitted by ISU with other higher education institutions in the Philippines and concluded her presentation with strategies to improve ISU’s ranking.
Additionally, Mr. Constante Medina delivered a message from the university president, Dr. Ricmar Aquino, focusing on driving institutional excellence through strategic GAD planning and global impact ranking.
The workshop provided a platform for participants to gain a deeper understanding of GAD planning and budgeting, use of Gender Analysis Tools, as well as strategies to enhance their institution’s global impact and ranking.
