Isabela State University-Cauayan Campus Gears Up for the 2023 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women

In a resolute stride towards a safer and more equitable society, Isabela State University-Cauayan Campus (ISUCC) is gearing up to actively participate in the 2023 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women. From November 25 to December 12, with the theme β€œStrengthening Regional Efforts in Addressing the Silent Pandemic,” ISUCC is set to engage in a multifaceted initiative aimed at raising awareness and catalyzing tangible actions to eradicate gender-based violence.

At the core of the campaign’s objectives is the mission to provide widespread public awareness regarding the laws and provisions safeguarding the rights of women and girls in the region. Through a series of activities, ISU-Cauayan intends to disseminate crucial updates on legal frameworks while fostering open discussions on the paramount importance of women’s rights in our society. By bringing together thought leaders and experts, ISUCC aims to foster collaborative strategies that transcend borders in the collective fight against gender-based violence.

The anticipated outcomes of the campaign are as ambitious as they are crucial for societal transformation. Through its participation in the campaign, ISUCC envisions an increased appreciation of the laws protecting women’s rights, emphasizing the fundamental rights to live free in a safe and secured environment, and to maintain physical and mental health. It is by fostering an inclusive approach that ISUCC aims to create a more comprehensive and effective framework for preventing and addressing gender-based violence.

A Glimpse into the Campaign Schedule

The inaugural event on November 28, 2023, will witness a Kick-Off Ceremony at the ISUCC Old Stage at 7 AM. The program will encompass various elements, including the welcome address and orientation by Dr. Mary Jane S. Bitanga, ISUCC’s GAD Focal Person. An intermission number by the STEPS Dance Troupe, a message by Dr. Precila C. Delima, the Executive Officer of ISU Cauayan, and the symbolic raising of the campaign banner will be key highlights. The day will conclude with a vibrant Zumba session, hosted by Allen Jonathan C. Cusi and Mark O. Mompil.

During the second week, the focus will be on the VAWlogging Competition, set to take center stage at the ISUCC Amphitheater on November 30, 2023, starting at 8 AM. Transitioning into the third week, the campus is geared up to distribute various brochures around the premises on December 8, 2023, as part of an initiative to heighten awareness among students.

As the campaign approaches its conclusion on December 12, 2023, the spotlight will shift to a Symposium on RA 9262: Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004, scheduled to be held at the ISUCC Amphitheater at 8 AM. Notably, the symposium’s distinguished resource speaker will be Atty. Christian F. Gonzales, the Director of Cauayan City’s Local Youth Development Office. The day, marking the culmination of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, will wrap up with the closing ceremony, hosted at the campus gymnasium at 1 PM.

In essence, the campus extends an earnest invitation to the entire ISUCC community, rallying for active participation and emphasizing the collective responsibility in addressing the silent pandemic of violence against women. ISUCC is optimistic that these initiatives will not only contribute significantly to regional efforts but will serve as a catalyst for societal change, paving the way for a safer, more inclusive future for all.
