Isabela State University-Cauayan Campus asserted its research strength after sweeping multiple awards and clinching top three spots in major categories at the 2025 Cauayan Cluster Search for Best Undergraduate and Graduate Research, held at ISU San Mateo Campus’ Mini-Theater, June 24.
At the undergraduate level, first place in the social category was awarded to Allen Kate M. Dapudong and Candice Mae C. Uy, under the guidance of Dr. Krisha Camille R. Angoluan, for their study โThrough the Lens of Legal Professionals: Exploring the Effect of Linguistic Barriers on Access to Justice,โ which revealed how language gaps hinder legal access among underrepresented sectors. In the educational category, Joebelle Isabelle Cristobal, Ronna Mae P. Reboca, and Esteban B. Pedro, mentored by Dr. Nancy G. De Leon, secured second place for their work on gamifying historical math content to improve performance among mathematics majors.
Two ISU-Cauayan projects earned top spots in the technological category. โE-Detect: A Mobile Application for Poultry Disease Detection Using Image Processingโ by Melanie D. Passion, Cleighronne Jay G. Maramag, and Reina Isabelle L. Abejuro, supervised by Dr. Joel M. Gumiran, bagged first place. Meanwhile, โFlash Rescue: Enhancing Emergency Response Efficiency through Real-Time Accident Reporting and Automated Alert Systemโ by Jorielyn T. Manuel, John Patrick M. Bagauisan, and Christine Joy R. Abrena, with Mr. Christopher H. Guiang as adviser, won third place.
At the graduate level, Glenn Mathew S. Garma dominated the technological category, taking first place for his research on cacao pod disease detection using enhanced deep learning with Dr. Betchie E. Aguinaldo as his adviser. James Bryan A. Tababa, guided by Dr. Arnel C. Fajardo, followed with a second-place finish for developing a CNN-based early warning system for rice leaf diseases.
ISU Cauayanโs performance reinforced its role as a research-driven campus committed to innovation, impact, and academic leadership, signaling its deepening culture of inquiry and solution-driven research.
