Isabela State University (ISU) Cauayan Campus mobilized its academic and administrative community in a coordinated earthquake drill, putting its emergency response systems, evacuation protocols, and disaster-readiness mechanisms to the test, September 9.

The campus-wide exercise temporarily halted classes and administrative operations as faculty members, staff, students, and visitors carried out the prescribed โ€œDuck, Cover, and Holdโ€ procedure before proceeding to designated evacuation areas.

Beyond simulating the immediate response to an earthquake, the drill tested the campusโ€™ capacity to manage a large-scale evacuation across its various buildings. Faculty members and office heads led the movement of their respective groups, while College Student Body Organizations, Recognized Student Organizations, and DREAM Marshals assisted evacuees and managed designated routes and exits.

The execution plan also incorporated protocols for persons with disabilities and other individuals requiring assistance, including pregnant individuals and those with health concerns. Designated personnel provided assisted evacuation, while the campus health team and DREAM Medics stood ready to administer first aid and coordinate emergency medical intervention when necessary.

The drill also subjected the campus response to internal and external evaluation. Representatives from the Executive Office, Planning, Research and Extension, Administrative and Finance Services, and the colleges served as primary evaluators, while personnel from DRRM/RESCUE 922 provided external assessment using the prescribed DRRM Evaluation Tool.

Through the simulation, ISU Cauayan strengthened its emergency response architecture, aligning personnel, evacuation protocols, medical teams, and evaluation mechanisms toward a unified response.
