The Isabela State University-Cauayan Campus’ Food Innovation Center (FIC) opened its doors to a benchmarking delegation from Bohol Island State University (BISU) as the Commission on Higher Education’s Central Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARRDEC) facilitated a knowledge exchange aimed at strengthening research, development, and extension (RDE) systems, September 16.

Led by BISU University Extension Director Lloyd L. Tejano, the delegation engaged with FIC representatives to examine its operational practices, extension initiatives, and strategies for translating institutional expertise into programs that support communities and innovation.

The visit provided BISU faculty and extension personnel with a closer look at how the FIC organizes and delivers its initiatives, offering practices that may inform the university’s own RDE mechanisms.

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Marisol S. Foronda, PhD, Cluster Executive Officer of ISU-Cauayan, further widening the exchange beyond the FIC’s technical operations and toward institutional approaches to research, extension, and innovation.

Through initiatives such as the benchmarking visit, ISU-Cauayan’s FIC contributes to a broader network of state universities that share practices, adapt innovations, and build stronger RDE systems across regions.
