Isabela State University-Cauayan Campus and the Rotary Club of Cauayan are catalyzing a partnership anchored on digital empowerment, youth leadership, and environmental action, opening new avenues for collaborative initiatives that respond to emerging community needs, September 29.

The partnership discussions unfolded during a meeting with Cluster Executive Officer Prof. Marisol S. Foronda, PhD, where the two organizations explored several proposed initiatives, including a free training on digital literacy towards smart citizens, the establishment of Rotaract (Rotary in Action), and the establishment of a green park at the campus.

The proposed digital literacy training seeks to equip participants with practical skills for navigating digital technologies and platforms while promoting responsible and informed digital citizenship. The initiative aims to strengthen people’s capacity to use technology for learning, communication, access to information, and civic participation.

Discussions also centered on establishing Rotaract at ISU-Cauayan, creating an avenue for students to engage in volunteerism, leadership development, and community service. The proposed organization can connect student leadership with Rotary’s service-oriented initiatives, providing opportunities for young people to contribute to projects beyond the classroom.

Meanwhile, the proposed Green Park is envisioned as a platform for environmental engagement, campus greening, and sustainability initiatives. The project could provide a tangible space where students and community partners can participate in activities that promote environmental awareness and stewardship.

The meeting further surfaced other potential areas of collaboration, with both parties exploring opportunities to combine their networks, resources, and expertise in developing programs for the community.

Rotary Club of Cauayan President Nelson Tan led the delegation, joined by Past President Czarah Jane S. Dy, Past President Nino Zayco, Secretaries Rose Michelle De Leon and Portia Barbara Mercader, and Jay Lord Dela Cruz, Executive Assistant to the Mayor.

Through the proposed initiatives, the partnership brings together three complementary dimensions of community action: digital capability, youth leadership, and environmental responsibility, strengthening the campus’ role in translating education and institutional partnerships into meaningful community engagement.
